COVID19 Information

At an emergency Board Meeting of Bowls South on Sunday 16 January, Bowls South agreed that the pennant season can recommence this week, but all players must be double vaccinated and are required to provide proof of this.  In addition, players participating in any Bowls South event including championships will need to meet the same criteria.

Players who have a medical exemption must provide evidence of this to be able to participate in pennant or other BTS competitions.

These decisions are in line with decisions previously taken by Bowls Tasmania.

Most members have now advised that they are double vaccinated, and many have already provided evidence of this as well.  If you have not yet provided advice or have not provided the evidence, please do so as soon as possible as you will not be eligible for selection after 1 February unless you have done so.  Similarly, if you have an exemption, you must provide evidence of this within the same timeframe.

Details of vaccination or medical exemption will need to be entered into Bowlslink.   Information regarding this will be sent to members.  However, if you are having difficulties, you can provide the necessary information to the club and we will enter the information for you.

Notwithstanding these decisions, it is the right of every individual player to assess personal risk and thus refuse selection in pennant if, for any reason, they consider the risk of exposure too high. No member will be pressured or coerced to play if they choose not to do so.

It is possible that we may face a shortage of players if players choose to make themselves unavailable or are unable to play because of contacting coronavirus or being required to isolate if they have been a close contact of a confirmed case or are awaiting the results of a test.

BTS have acknowledged this situation and advised that clubs should select from the highest team down and, if they find they are unable to field their lowest team, clubs are required to contact the BTS Match Committee.

In line with the decisions of Bowls Tasmania and Bowls South, the Management Committee of this club has determined that no member or visitor will be able to enter the club premises or participate in any club events including social bowls, club tournaments such as the Jack Eaton Mixed Pairs or petanque unless they are double vaccinated or have an exemption.

Please contact any member of the Management Committee if you have any questions.
